How the Series Works

The Lifestages Lower Mainland Road Race Series features ten of the best events in the Vancouver area, providing runners of all ages and abilities with the chance to compete against their peers. The series kicks-off with the Icebreaker 8k in Steveston in January, and concludes with the Great Trek 10k in October. The events feature races over 5K, 8K, 10K and the 21.1/half marathon.

All races are sanctioned by B.C. Athletics, and all courses are certified.

Please be sure to read Road Race Etiquette Guidelines and share with other series participants.

Scoring Points

You score points based on your position within 5-year age groups, men and women: Under 20, 20-24, 25-29, … 70-74, 75-79, 80+. Age is calculated as of the date of the last race in the series. E.g. if someone is 24 on race day but will be 25 by the end of the series, they will be scored according to their position in the 25-29 category, not the 20-24 category (different from race results).

1st — 30 points, 2nd — 25, 3rd — 20, 4th — 18, 5th — 16, 6th — 15, 7th — 14, and so on, down to 20th — 1 point.

Your best six (6) point scores will be added together to determine your series ranking. Rankings will be posted on this website as soon as possible following each event. Ties will be broken by looking at head-to-head results.

Qualifying for Individual Series Awards

You must complete a minimum of 6 races in the series to qualify for Series awards. Top 3 qualifying men and women in each category will receive gift cards or merchandise prizes from series sponsors.

If you run in and complete all 10 races in the series, you will receive a special plaque at the end of the series and entered into a draw for free running shoes.
